Setting Up Multi-Factor Authentication in EQQ

As of version 26.01, EQQ supports TOTP-based Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to protect your account with a second layer of security beyond your password.

What is TOTP MFA?

TOTP stands for Time-based One-Time Password. When enabled, you must enter a six-digit code from an authenticator app in addition to your password each time you sign in. The code changes every 30 seconds and is unique to your device.

Supported Authenticator Apps

EQQ MFA works with any standard TOTP authenticator app, including:

  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • Google Authenticator
  • Authy
  • Any other RFC 6238-compatible app

Enabling MFA on Your Account

  1. Log in to EQQ and go to My Account
  2. Find the Security section and click Enable Multi-Factor Authentication
  3. A QR code is displayed on screen. Open your authenticator app and choose Add Account or Scan QR Code
  4. Scan the QR code with your phone's camera
  5. Enter the six-digit code shown in your app to confirm the setup
  6. Your device is now registered and MFA is active on your account

Signing In with MFA

After entering your username and password on the login page, EQQ will prompt you to enter your current authenticator code. Open your authenticator app, read the six-digit code shown for EQQ, enter it, and click Verify. The code refreshes every 30 seconds, so enter it promptly.

Managing Your Registered Devices

EQQ tracks each authenticator device you have registered. Under My Account > Security, you can:

  • View all registered MFA devices and their status (verified or pending)
  • Remove a device you no longer use, such as a lost or replaced phone
  • Add an additional device if you want a backup authenticator

Administrator: Monitoring MFA Across Users

EQQ Administrators can view the MFA registration status for every user account under Administration > Security. If your organization requires MFA for all personnel, the Administrator should confirm each user has completed their setup and follow up with any who have not.

Need Help?

If you are locked out of your account following a device change or loss, contact your EQQ Administrator who can remove the old device entry and allow you to re-register. For further assistance, reach out to us via Get In Touch.
